How to check if a virtual background will run on my machine?

Before looking into getting a virtual backdrop, your first need to know if your computer will run it. Here are the instructions to help you check if a virtual background will work on Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

Zoom
How to check if a virtual background will work on my machine
Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
Click your profile picture, then click Settings.
Select Backgrounds & Filters (Note: If you do not have the Virtual Background tab and have enabled it on the web portal, sign out of Zoom desktop client and sign in again).
Check I have a green screen if you have a physical green screen set up.You can then click on your video to select the correct colour for the green screen.
Click on an image or video to select the desired virtual background.
System requirements - zoom
Mac
Without green screen
- Zoom desktop client, version 4.6.4 or higher
- macOS 10.13 or later
With a green screen
- Zoom desktop client, version 4.6.4 or higher
- macOS 10.9 or later
Windows
Without green screen
- Zoom desktop client, version 5.2.0 or higher
- Windows 7, 8 and 10 (64-bit)
With a green screen
- Zoom desktop client, version 3.5 or higher
- Supported processors: Intel 2 cores with 2.0Ghz or higher (i5/i7 or AMD equivalent) processor or AMD Ryzen 5/7/9 or higher

Microsoft Teams
How to check if a virtual background will work on my machine
When you are in a Microsoft Teams call, click the three dots on the meeting settings bar.
Select ’show background effects’
Choose your background from the background settings pane.
Either preview or select apply to enable your background.
System requirements - Teams
Mac
Computer and processor: Intel Core Duo processor
Memory: 4.0 GB RAM (Teams requires a dedicated 4 GB of RAM over and above any other system requirements)
Hard disk: 1.5 GB of available disk space
Windows
Computer and processor: Minimum 1.1 GHz or faster, 2 core (Note: For Intel processors, the maximum speed achieved using Intel Turbo Boost Technology (Max Turbo Frequency) must be considered)
Memory: 4.0 GB RAM (Teams requires a dedicated 4 GB of RAM over and above any other system requirements)
Hard disk: 3.0 GB of available disk space
